New. Years. YEAH!

Happy New Years! And what a year it has been! Although...

New Years Eve/New Years is sort of arbitrary, isn't it? It's an arbitrary day where people get all sentimental and blubbery about it being the last day of the year, like there won't be a tomorrow. Well guess what, people, THERE IS A TOMORROW! Shocker. You'll get up, and it'll be like the day after your birthday where you feel not but a day older. Why don't people celebrate their triumphs every day of the year? What if I arbitrarily decide that... March 17th is going to be New Years from now on? The world will, indeed continue. WHAT IF I DECIDE THERE IS NO NEW YEARS?! What if it's just one GIANT year?! That sounds like a rocking good time! What if we celebrated “New Month” or “New Day”? What is so darn important about celebrating a new year? I just don't get it. I am just feeling like people should celebrate their life every day. Holidays are silly. I mean, I like the ones where you get presents and turkey and baking... but what's with the ones meant to celebrate things we could celebrate every day? Like Thanksgiving! Let's all just be thankful for what we have every day! Maybe I'm just cynical...

So in the spirit of being arbitrary, let's look back on an Elizabeth Sort of Year!

January: It was cold.
Febraruy: It was cold.
March: It was cold. And sad.
April: It was mild.
May: It was mild.
June: It was hot.
July: It was mild. Just kidding. July was hot.
August: I spent a grand two weeks with Tennille.
September: Started my final year of high school.
October: It was musical. No. Really. It was musical.
November: It was less musical, more torturous.
December: It was over. And cold.

Wowee you guys! What a temperate year! I have quite the list of people to thank for such a temperate year! I'd like to first thank my two best friends for making my year a lot milder after March. You're wonderful, you're beautiful, you haven't got much clothes on. Oh boy, that doesn't sound like I meant it to! I'd like to thank my ex for making my life so much better [without him]. I'd like to thank my mum and dad and sister for being my family for another year, and not disowning me, no matter how much I belch at the dinner table. I'd like to thank my fellow cast mates in the musical for making it much less torturous than it could have been, and for being the best surrogate family anyone could ask for! And I'd like to thank Shaimus for making me feel better than everyone else [like I need that, right?!]. Oh and I'll thank him for being there and stuff... [He's the cheese-train conductor, I just ride along in the dining car.]

Now, for highlights:

1. Got my N. Yes. I drive a vehicle. Yes. I drive a minivan. Yes. I am a suburban soccer mum. [Do I have to spell it “mom” because it's “soccer mom”?]
2. Lived another 365 days. Sounds impressive right? Yeah, guess what? You all did it too. Unless you were born in like... November 2010. Then you haven't been living that long at all...
3. Applied to university. Hopefully I'll get to write “Got into university” and “survived my first term of university” in next year's highlights.
4. I'd like to say that I grew... but that would be a lie. I'm still 5'4. Rockin' good times.
5. Read Catch-22, aren't I scholarly? Just kidding. I didn't finish it.
6. Got engaged! Almost. To Amanda.
7. Went to spin class.
8. Quit spin class.
9. Started yoga classes. I'm practically a Buddhist monk.
10. Made a pact with a friend to not cut our hair for a year. (Except trims, and bangs)
11. Shaved my head.
12. Started a blog.

So as you can see, I had quite a successful year. So let's keep celebrating pointless, arbitrary holidays! See you all on Tomorrow Day!
