Interesting...very interesting

Actually probably not all that interesting for anyone who isn't interested in music...but anyway. I just picked up my violin for the first time in a couple months, and guess what. I can still play! Bach, none the less. It's pretty cool that muscle memory lasts that long. Kind of like when you try to call your best friend, but by accident you call your ex...that's never the best thing. Anyway, I think it's just fantastic that one can pick something up that you did for a long time, but haven't done in a long time, and be able to just...do it. Of course I don't have the chops that I used to, but I can still hack out a Bach Suite or two. How long does muscle memory last? I just read on Wikipedia, yes Wikipedia, that some guy showed signs of typing muscle memory after 25 years with no practice. That's pretty cool. I'm thinking it probably lasts longer with music too...depending on how long you played for, and how hard you practiced. It's also pretty funny, because even though I have muscle memory of them, I don't show my bad habits as much (like my death grip on the neck of my violin...). Is that just maturity of the musician? Now I know that it's bad do I possibly fix it subconsciously? Music is a nifty nifty thing...
