The age of passive

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

I have something that is troubling me. It's my generation. The people who are my age, who don't question nor criticize. I see so many people just lapping up whatever is fed to them. Especially since we have teachers as prominent adult figures in our lives [and supposedly teachers are all knowing] spoon feeding us all these 'facts'. I have seen kids take a piece of information their teacher tells them that is blatantly wrong, and take it home to their families, passing it as truth. See, in my family we make things up all the time. We have a theory that if you don't know something, you make it up. I have, therefore, been brought up questioning pretty much everything anyone tells me. I believe in finding other resources, looking at things critically, and finding out the best and most correct piece of information you can. So for those of you that are growing up passive and like permeable sponges, get with it. People lie, and I'm sorry to pull a Hamlet here, but the world isn't all roses and fairy tales. If you don't question things, or even just get another opinion, you're going to be faced with some pretty serious consequences. You'll have to figure those out for yourself, though, as it is now time for me to study History.

I hope everyone had a lovely day!
