Vents [not the air variety]

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Hi everyone! So, another stressful day, but we'll leave all details aside, since it was just that stressful. Anyway, today I want to talk about venting.

I have come to realize that you can't really get everything out by just ranting to your friends... or you blog... so I was trying to figure out what my vent was. And I realized [ironically, because of my stress today] that it is, in fact, singing. Singing really loud [and strongly pianissimo when it's called for] in Italian with my best opera face.

Now again, I'm not exactly the sentimental type [in public or where people can see it] but I do have to say this:

music = best outlet ever

My English teacher was going on about how no other literature expresses emotion like poetry does, but I have to disagree. If Mr. Ari Barnes is correct, and music is a language, music is the most powerful of all literature. Poetry is so much more obvious, and yet so much harder to interpret than music. Poetry has words to help get the author's point across, and I suppose opera and vocal music does also, but most music just has pure melody. Also, I find that poetry often only has one interpretation but music is so free for interpretation.

I may have just found a possible term paper topic here... Buona giornata! [Good day in Italian!]
