Pantoum

So we had to write these poems in writing class, pantoums... they're quite annoying if you don't have an idea to begin with... so I took one of my old poems I wrote and turned it into one! I think I like it better now, although some of the meaning might have been lost. You tell me:

Pantoum of a Blackbird and a Gull

And the gull is shouting “MINE MINE MINE”

A blackbird and a gull are sitting on a telephone wire.

Sitting on a telephone line

No their pants are not on fire.

A blackbird and a gull are sitting on a telephone wire

It’s like they’ve been there for years

No their pants are not on fire

They’re the world’s eyes and ears

It’s like they’ve been there for years

They watch you smile

They’re the world’s eyes and ears

I think they’ve been there quite a while

They watch you smile,

They watch you frown

I think they’ve been there quite a while

They say “My how you’ve grown”.

They watch you frown

Sitting on a telephone line

They say “My how you’ve grown”.

And the gull is shouting “MINE MINE MINE”
